Join Duke University Hospital as Nurse

The Neuro Spine Progressive Care Unit is located within Duke Health's Durham-based Duke University Hospital. Team members on the unit offer exceptional care for neurology and neurosurgery patients with conditions affecting the brain and nervous system. There are 37 state-of-the art patient beds on the unit, including eight beds equipped with audio and video monitoring technology to provide specialized care to epilepsy patients. 

As a nurse on this unit, you'll be met with unwavering support to advance your career at a hospital ranked by the U.S. News and World Report in 11 adult specialties, including neurology and neurosurgery. Nurses on the unit have strong med-surg skills and are supported to develop a neuroscience specialty.

    Incentives and Benefits Designed for You

    • Sign-on Bonuses: Experienced registered nurses are eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus. 
    • Relocation Assistance: Up to $8,000 in relocation assistance is available for experienced registered nurses and $3,000 in relocation assistance is available for new graduate registered nurses. 
    • Nurse Loan Forgiveness: Eligible nurses who work in Duke's three hospitals and associated ambulatory clinics, procedural areas, Duke HomeCare & Hospice, and Duke Primary Care can receive up to $25,000 for outstanding student loans and pre-licensure nursing education. 
    • Nursing Career Ladder: This program helps advance nursing careers with promotion. 
    • Additional Bonuses: Nurses can receive additional bonuses for continuing education certifications and for referring prospective team members to Duke Health. 
    • Back-up Care Service: Duke University Health System team members receive 10 annual days of back-up care at discounted rates using Bright Horizons' network of caregivers who provide temporary care when you have a disruption in your regular care. You can use these 10 days either in-home for both children and adults at $6 per hour, or at a Bright Horizons center at $15 per child per day or $25 per family. 
    • Tuition Assistance: Team members can receive tuition assistance of up to $5,250 per calendar year after just six months of full-time employment. 

      In addition, nurses can take advantage of the RN Tuition Assistance Program, which contributes up to 90% of a benefit-eligible nurse's Duke University School of Nursing tuition for select master's and doctorate programs after three years of full-time employment. Duke University School of Nursing is ranked #1 for all of its participating master's and doctorate of nursing practice programs and specialties. It has the over #2 doctorate of nursing practice program, according to the U.S. News and World Reports 2023-2024 graduate school rankings
